Artist statement

Primarily working with LED technology, I am inspired by the capacity of light to alter, amplify, and rejuvenate. Illumination is integral to my work to produce a spiritual and contemplative element.

Using light, colour, shape, pattern, and texture I create layered abstract compositions and geometric forms, offering the viewer an enhanced experience of geometry and how it can be interpreted in reference to nature, cosmology, and architecture. Through recognising the familiar relationship of shapes around us, my work aims to tap into the magic of the collective imagination and subconscious mind.

Specifically, I examine the properties of sacred geometry, which is the study of the symbolic and sacred meaning of various shapes, patterns, and proportions and explore the interface between matter and spirit – the seen and unseen, the manifest and unmanifest, the finite and infinite all within the interconnectivity of life.

My work celebrates beauty and function with a minimalist modern aesthetic of stylised shapes and bright applications of colour attributed to the materials and techniques used. Perspex acrylic, upcycled EPS (expanded polystyrene), concrete, metal, fibre optics and electronics are materials frequently utilised in my work in combination with hand and industrial processes.

The synthesis of various applied art techniques alongside precision industrial processes, including laser-cutting, powder-coating, anodising, metal spinning, and moulding, results in limited-edition works that are simultaneously decorative and functional, crossing boundaries between art and product design.
